TV ratings war raging over Eat Bulaga’s ‘AlDub’

http://tutukanews.blogspot.com/2015/08/tv-ratings-war-raging-over-eat-bulagas.html

If a complaint filed by GMA Network were to be believed, it was not only Lola Nidora who had been scheming to destroy the budding romance between Alden Richards and Yaya Dub in the “AlDub” portion of the noontime show, “Eat Bulaga;” rival TV network ABS-CBN Corp., the parent company of TV provider Sky Cable Corp., was out to sabotage the love team as well.
Sky Cable however refuted the claims made by GMA Network (GMA 7) in its Aug. 25 complaint to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) that the cable company was “shortchanging” subscribers through service interruptions whenever the popular AlDub kalyeserye segment aired over GMA 7’s long-running variety show, “Eat Bulaga.”
In a press statement on Friday, Sky Cable expressed willingness to cooperate with the NTC on any investigation that the regulatory agency might wish to conduct regarding the incidents of service interruption. The cable provider also vowed to address any future service interruptions.
GMA 7’s complaint regarding the “shortchanging” of subscribers via irresponsible acts was “a malicious accusation and is without basis,” Sky Cable said.

Global standards“If there were service interruptions that inconvenienced some of our subscribers, these were isolated and would have affected other channels, not only GMA 7,” the cable provider said.
For the past 25 years, Sky Cable said it had been providing top-of-the-line services to subscribers, adding it was always its primary aim “to be at par with global standards and innovations in bringing world-class entertainment to every Filipino home.”
Its statement added: “To all our valued customers and stakeholders, we commit to take all necessary measures to give you the best service you deserve and continue working round-the-clock to minimize and immediately resolve any service interruptions in the future.”
Based on earlier reports, GMA 7 filed the NTC complaint following the loss of signal during the airing of the popular segment AlDub kalyeserye on “Eat Bulaga.”
GMA 7 sought “immediate action” from the NTC, alleging Sky Cable’s violation of Section 6 of the NTC MC No. 4-08-88, or the revised rules and regulations governing cable TV in the country.
The kalyeserye segment features entertainers Maine Mendoza, more popularly known as Yaya Dub, and GMA 7 talent Alden Richards, as well as comedians Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola as Lola Nidora, whose character is rabidly against the TV romance.

Duterte on VP post: I don't want to be 'inutile'

'I do not want to be a vice president who does nothing. I would be an added inutile there,' says Duterte, who adds that 'the presidency is destiny'

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – With Vice President Jejomar Binay naming him as apossible running mate next year, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said he does not want to be an “inutile politician.”
Duterte said it was honor to be invited to become a vice presidential bet but he is concerned about the work he will do if elected.
"Eh ayoko naman 'yang vice president ka na walang kang gagawin. I would be an added inutile there," Duterte said. (I do not want to be a vice president who does nothing.)
Duterte also said that becoming president is a person's destiny and is “signed by fate” as various groups and politicians continue to urge him to run in the 2016 polls.
"Presidency is destiny talaga (really). Destiny," Duterte said in an interview with Sonshine Radio a few minutes after he met with Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II here in the city on Friday evening, May 22.
Duterte maintained that he has no plans to run for any national position, and said that his listening tours are purely about his advocacy for federalism in the Philippines.
"I have said it before. Just because I am going around promoting federalism does not mean I am running," Duterte said.
The hard-talking and controversial mayor explained that he does not have the financial capacity for a national campaign. Duterte, 70, added that he is already old to engage in national politics.
"Sa totoo lang kung gusto mo talaga, kailangan mo ng pera. Kayong taga-Davao, alam ninyo naman kung hanggang saan lang ako. And besides, I'm old. I may not have the energy anymore," Duterte said.
(In all honesty, if you really want to run, you need money. You, DavaoeƱos, you know my capacity.)
Roxas couldn't ask Duterte's plans
Duterte also said that his meeting with Roxas and religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was not political. A source said that Roxas is regularly using Quiboloy's hangar for his private plane and chopper when he is in the area.
"He was passing by and he wanted to talk to me. If you want to know if it is political or not, it is not. We did not discuss it," Duterte said.
Duterte said that Roxas was eager to confirm his political plans but was too cautious, and was not able to raise it during their short meeting.
"He did not mention it anyway and I don't want to sound presumptuous. Maybe he wanted to ask me whether I am running or not, and he can't bring it to himself to ask," Duterte said.
Yet Duterte admitted that Roxas is his friend, and that he knows the secretary the most among the rumored presidential candidates.
"Pero kaibigan kami. (We are friends.) Of all the candidates, Mar is the closest to me," Duterte said, explaining that he has worked with Roxas in several instances.
The mayor, who is being egged on by his supporters to run for president in 2016, is going around the country and lately in Hong Kong for a "listening tour.”
The engagements, supposedly a campaign for federalism, consistently transformed into a gathering of people and groups calling for his presidential candidacy.
Earlier, Duterte made a statement that he will withdraw financial support to barangay (village) captains who started the Pilipinas 2016 Duterte Movement. The barangay captains continued, and the support from the Office of the City Mayor is still the same.
Duterte also said that he plans to retire after his term next year but continues to give out "if I become president" statements in his listening tours, drawing speculation.
"I intend to retire after this term. Matanda na ako (I am old)," Duterte earlier said.
Duterte divulged that his daughter, former Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, is willing to run again for a local post next year.
His son, Paolo, is now Davao City vice mayor. Paolo's wife is the president of Davao's Association of Barangay Councils.
Last Saturday, at least 5,000 supporters joined a fun run in Davao City dubbed as "Run Duterte Run.”

Duterte: 'Am I the death squad? True'

'I don't want to kill people. So don't elect me as president,' says the controversial mayor who is being encouraged by supporters to run for president in 2016
DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, said to be eyeing a presidential run in 2016, continues to talk tough amid persistent allegations that he's behind extra-judicial executions in his city.
"Am I the death squad? True. That is true," Duterte said on his regular local TV show Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa last Sunday, May 24.
But Duterte stressed that his statement on the so-called Davao death squad was his way of challenging his critics and human rights groups to directly file charges against him in Davao City.
"Alam mo [kung] bakit? Gusto ko silang pumunta dito. There's no need for you to go to the Ombudsman. There is no requirement that you go to the human rights. File directly in court. Then I'll place you under oath. Just execute an affidavit," Duterte said.
Duterte, who is known as the country's The Punisher, said that he will personally cross-examine his accusers – should that time come.
In the past, Duterte has also made similar "admissions" but would clarify later that he was teasing.
Known for his iron-fist approach to criminality, Duterte has been accused by human rights groups of ordering the summary execution of suspected criminals in the city.
This issue is now being raised against him as business people, Davao residents and several sectors encourage him to run for president in 2016.
Duterte earlier said his administration’s fight against illegal drugs in the last 20 years was both to protect young people from becoming drug abusers and from becoming victims of drug addicts.
On Sunday, he threatened criminals anew: "Kapag naging presidente ako, magtago na kayo. Yang 1,000 it will reach 50,000. I would kill all of you who make the lives of Filipinos miserable." (If I become president, hide. That number [of killed] 1,000 will reach 50,000.)
"Ipapatay ko talaga kayo. Manalo ako dahil sa breakdown in law and order. I do not want to commit a crime. But if by chance per chance God will place me there magbantay kayo kasi yang 1,000 maging 100,000. Dyan mo makikita na tataba ang isda sa Manila Bay. Dyan ko kayo itapon," Duterte added. (I will have you killed. I will win because of the breakdown of law and order...If I win then beware. The fish in Manila Bay will get fat. I will throw you there.)
Thus, he said, he's appealing to his supporters to stop pushing for him to run for president.
"I don't want to be president. I don't want to kill people. So don't elect me as president," Duterte said.
The mayor has been doing the rounds in the country, and among those who have pledged to support his presidential campaign are big businessmen in Mindanao and retired police and military officers.
Duterte placed 3rd in the latest survey on possible presidential contenderspreferred by voters. It was the first time his name was included in the polls, and he tied with the very popular former President Joseph Estrada.
But he has said that if it were up to him, he would rather retire in 2016.

Estado at Simbahan

Chiz said to Leila: Don’t hide, face INC protesters who want to solve their ‘family problems’ internally

Senator Francis Escudero said Justice Secretary Leila de Lima should face the growing throng of Iglesia Ni Cristo at the Padre Faura gates of the Department of Justice.
De Lima was forced to sneak out of the DOJ backdoor after INC protesters blocked the exit gates Thursday afternoon.
In an interview with DZMM radio, Escudero said that if Customs Commissioner Bert Lina faced irate overseas Fipino workers (OFWs), de Lima should also face the thousands of INC protesters to personally know what they are demanding.
Escudero said that de Lima should have not intervened in the INC problem involving alleged corruption of its inner circle and intimidation, and abduction of some members.
Escudero said that de Lima should have allowed the INC to resolve its problems internally before stepping in and making it a court case. “It’s like a family problem, family members should be allowed to settle the issue themselves,” said Escudero.
Escudero said that the INC issue should have been tackled first at the DOJ prosecutor level and he was surprised why de Lima has taken personal interest in the case.
Instead of focusing her time on the INC isse, Escudero said that de Lima should have prioritized the filing of cases in the Mamasapano massacre last January/ “In Mamasapano, 44 lives were lost. She should have started this case a long time ago,” said Escudero.
